We decided to honor Rosa Mendes' career in WWE in our first ever video Top 10 of 10, instead of an article/post about her retirement! We marked several moments and matches that we in AWOW remember and we hope that you remember them too, if you forgot any of them here is the time to remind you about them.
Rosa made her debut on November 24, 2008 episode of Raw, as a planted fan of The Glamazon Beth Phoenix. She used to manage a lot of then-Divas and Superstars, appeared in a lot of segments and had some memorable in ring moments.Almost 10 years later Rosa is leaving a legacy on her own and that bitter taste that she was one of the most underrated women in WWE, aside form the fact that she survived 10 years with WWE, which is a fact that must be respectd and recognized.
So let's see our Top 10 of 10 honoring Rosa Mendes!
DANCING WITH FANDANGO FOR A WHILE
Well, only two other women-wrestlers can say that they "achieve" this - Summer Rae and Layla.
So it's a sort of accomplishment, aside from the fact that this partnership didn't last long. It helped Mendes to enter WWE K game as a valet in her dancing attire.
Of course this storyline ended with Rosa 'helping' her former partner to lose a match against Adam Rose, after he dump her (IN THE VIDEO). Fandango didn't have luck with women! Maybe Tyler Breeze is a suitable partner for him, eh?! 😉😉😉
TIME FOR HEELS
When Lay-Cool reached their sunset, the time for reconstruction of SmackDown! and WWE women's divisions to be rebuild and new villains to enter the spotlight.
Rosa joined Tamina ans Alicia Fox in a war against debuting The Chickbusters -AJ Lee and Kaitlyn with their mentor Natalya. Here we have one of the matches between them, that involve Rosa and it's important, because this is one of her rare victories.
CHALLENGING THE CHAMP
The story of this match was that Rosa wanted to become a Challenger. The whole thing returned into one of the most shortest and humiliating match in her career. It was all to set the stage for Paige's attack, afterward.
THE LAYCOOL-ROSA
Well, this Lay-Cool joke came back to cost Layla a match!
ARE YOU FRIEND OR FOE
The evening started with act of heroism by Beth Phoenix, saving Kelly Kelly from Lay-Cool and Vickie Guerrero. After that she was able to face Rosa...
Both women got a history in the good old days. Rosa debuted as the Glamazon's intern, assistant and fan. But in this match, the friendship looks like it was forgotten! Was it a good idea to enter the SmackDown roster with annoying the Glamazon?
Entering the Total Divas cast was the right step for reviving her career and the interest in her for Rosa. While the show bring some damage over some of the women's involved (like Paige), for Mendes it was the last , possible move.
Her appearance in the reality show was shocking, scandalous and funny. Kissing almost all of her fellow Divas and making funny plans to gain some attention, like several wardrobe malfunctions - planned and unplanned:
MANAGING PRIMO AND EPICO
Rosa period as Primo and Epico's manager was full of interesting clashes with other valets like The Funkadactyls and Natalya, oh and Hornswoggle.
DEBUT AND EARNING THE GLAMARELLA'S RESPECT
Rosa Mendes debuted as a 'planted fan', with sign showing her administrations over the Glamazon Beth Phoenix. Soon, the fan starts to attack Melina, even dressed as one of her Paparazzi, to earn Phoenix's and her boyfriend Santino Marella's respect and her desire was awarded with an internship.
One rude and wild beginning for Mendes career!
THE FIRST TV WIN!!!
There is nothing more exciting and memorable like your first TV win... especially if you spent most of your career losing i.e. helping the others to shine.
According to IWD Rosa has only 10 victories and 111 losses, so this first victory is one of the rare occasions, where you can see the referee rising Rosa's hand as a winner.
WrestleMania XXX! The first time the WWE Divas Championship was defended at the Grandest stage of them All, in a Vickie Guerrero's Divas Championship Invitational match, that included every single then-Diva in the roster against AJ Lee.
Rosa had her WrestleMania moment, in a title shot match! This is one of the greatest memory she may have, one of her real accomplishments. So, we decide it to pick it as #1!
